Vini Jr., the Real Madrid and Brazilian national team star, has once again been targeted by negative remarks in Spain. In an interview published on Sunday, September 23, 2024, by Relevo, former Valencia president Paco Roig made offensive comments about the player. Vini Jr. has not yet responded to the insults.
The verbal attack occurred when Roig discussed the racist incident Vini Jr. faced at Valencia’s Mestalla Stadium last season, during a La Liga match. After the incident, three fans were identified and sentenced to eight months in prison, along with a two-year stadium ban.
Roig’s comments added fuel to the controversy, as he criticized Vini Jr.’s behavior, stating: “He’s a great player, but he’s a terrible person.” Roig also referenced former Valencia player Romário to criticize Vini further and made derogatory remarks about Real Madrid’s diverse team.
Recently, Vini Jr. addressed the persistent racial abuse he endures in Spain, urging for more action and stating that if things don’t improve, Spain shouldn’t host the 2030 World Cup.
