Design Highlights

The Mate 70 Pro+ retains Huawei’s signature sleek and minimalist design while refining its aesthetics with a circular camera module. This module now includes “AI-DC” branding, indicating significant advancements in AI-driven image processing. Leaked images reveal a premium finish with options like Ink Black, Blue, Gold with Silver, and Feather White, appealing to style-conscious consumers

Camera Innovations

Photography enthusiasts have much to look forward to. The Mate 70 Pro+ features a 60MP main camera sensor, accompanied by a 48MP ultra-wide and telephoto lens setup. This marks an upgrade from its predecessor, with improved AI and digital zoom capabilities supporting up to 100x zoom. Additionally, the 48MP front camera promises sharper selfies and superior low-light performance

Hardware and Performance

Under the hood, the Mate 70 Pro+ is powered by the Kirin 9100 chipset, a 5nm processor developed in-house by Huawei. This promises to rival Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 888 and MediaTek’s Dimensity 9000 in terms of efficiency and AI processing. The device is expected to ship with up to 16GB RAM and 1TB storage, ensuring seamless multitasking and storage for high-resolution media

Software and OS

The entire Mate 70 series, including the Pro+, will debut with HarmonyOS Next, Huawei’s proprietary operating system. This OS ensures optimal integration with Huawei’s ecosystem but lacks compatibility with Android apps, which might influence its global appeal. Speculations suggest potential support for dual OS functionality, enabling users to switch between HarmonyOS and a secondary operating system

Display and Build

The Mate 70 Pro+ is equipped with a 6.82-inch curved OLED display, delivering vivid visuals and a premium viewing experience. It is also certified for dust and water resistance, ensuring durability

The Huawei Mate 70 Pro+ represents a blend of innovative technology and elegant design, making it a strong contender in the flagship smartphone market. While initially launching in China, its global availability remains uncertain. If Huawei successfully balances its proprietary OS’s limitations with hardware innovations, the Mate 70 Pro+ could redefine flagship standards in 2024.
